Certified Functional Strength Coach Level 1

Strength Coach, LIFT Co-Owner

Diane is a strength coach certified through Mike Boyle’s Certified Functional Strength Coach program and the co-owner of LIFT. After years of ballet as a child, Diane’s fitness journey began when her brother taught her basic lifts in the YMCA weight room. She later embraced the boutique group fitness trend, dabbling in cycling, kickboxing, Pilates, yoga—you name it. Fitness became an outlet that improved not only her physical health but her mental health as well.

Wanting to dive deeper into strength training, Diane joined a CrossFit gym and committed to the culture for several years. On days when she lacked motivation, the friends she made at the gym helped her stay consistent. That community also gave her the confidence to explore other avenues of movement, such as Muay Thai, though the few skills she remembers wouldn’t serve her well in a fight.

When a CrossFit gym opened close to home in Burlington, Diane helped with administrative work and took classes before eventually becoming a coach. There, she met Denis, Ryan, Ricky, and an incredible core group of members. When the gym eventually closed, they didn’t want to see their community dismantled, so Diane joined Denis in a new endeavor: opening a gym built around the vital sense of community that makes fitness fun instead of a chore.

Before they knew it, they had signed a temporary lease on 3rd Ave, and LIFT came to life. Diane is proud of LIFT’s new home on Cambridge St. and is continually inspired by her team and members, who embody the spirit of what is more than just a gym. By day, Diane works in special education at a middle school in Lexington.
